Planning a Trip to Whitby? This Is Not Your Average Travel Guide

Whether you’re a dark tourist, folklore nerd, Dracula fangatic (sorry), or just someone who loves a little spooky fun with your sea air – this guide is for you.

Forget the generic blogs and half-baked haunted lists. This downloadable PDF guide (and Google Map!) is packed with authentic, atmospheric, and eerie locations that I’ve researched, visited, and handpicked just for fellow morbid travellers.

Haunted Whitby is the first travel guide of its kind – a dedicated spooky tourism guide to Whitby’s ghosts, legends, dark history and eerie locations.

This is for you if you’ve ever come home from a trip feeling like you missed the good stuff. You saw the main sights. You followed the blogs. But somehow, the best bits – the weird little museum, the haunted alley, the gothic graveyard – passed you by. And now you’re kicking yourself for not finding them sooner.

That’s exactly what this guide is here to stop.

The Haunted Whitby Travel Guide was made for people like you – the ones who want something a little darker, weirder, and more atmospheric than the usual tourist trail. It helps you plan less, explore more, and come home feeling like you actually found the weird and wonderful places you really came for.

Why This Guide Is Different From the Rest

How often do you see guides specifically themed around dark tourism and spooky travel?

Let’s face it: traditional travel guides have been done to death. Same destinations, same recommendations, same tired themes.

I’m ridiculously proud to be one of the first people offering a travel guide of this kind — and I really, really hope you love the Whitby one, because I’m already dying (pun intended) to make more for eerie locations around the UK.

When you buy the guide, you’ll get an instant download packed with haunted spots, chilling folklore, and eerie locations that most tourists miss – all researched and handpicked to help you explore Whitby’s darker side at your own pace. Track down ghost stories in haunted pubs, uncover artefacts with creepy backstories, and follow in Dracula’s footsteps through the real locations that inspired the novel. There’s even a Ghost Spotting Checklist included to tick off spooky sites as you go.

Made by a True Morbid Tourist

I’m Louise, the dark tourist behind The Morbid Tourist – one of the UK’s first blogs dedicated entirely to dark tourism. I’ve spent years exploring creepy corners of the UK, seeking out haunted hot spots, dark history destinations, and fascinating folklore spots. If I visit a new place, you’re more likely to find me on a spooky ghost tour than at a top tourist attraction.

I’ve explored haunted castles, attended eerie walking tours, and uncovered local legends all across Britain, building a loyal community of curious travellers along the way. I’ve even been featured in publications like Mirror Online for my spooky adventures.

This guide pulls together everything I’ve learned from visiting Whitby again and again – not just the iconic spots, but the eerie extras most tourists miss. If you’re looking for a reliable, research-backed, and genuinely spooky way to experience Whitby, you’re in the right place.

🗨️ I went to Whitby and used your guide – loved it! Even my proud Yorkshire partner didn’t know all the places and stories you included. Really well laid out and informative 🙂 – MorganGD

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this beginner-friendly?
Yes! Whether it’s your first spooky trip or your fiftieth, this guide gives you everything you need to explore haunted Whitby with confidence and curiosity.

Do you offer refunds?
Just like a ghost tour ticket or digital map, this spooky download is non-refundable – but I’m here if you need help making the most of it!

Does this guide include entry to attractions or discounts?
No — this is a digital travel guide only. You’ll still need to purchase your own attraction tickets, accommodation, and transport. That being said, Whitby is a relatively affordable place to visit, and the guide is packed with free things to do. Anything that requires paid entry includes a price point so you can plan ahead.

This is my first spooky guide, so unfortunately I haven’t been able to arrange any local discounts (yet!). But if this one does well, I’d love to include exclusive offers and extras in future editions.

🗨️ It’s really great! So much detail and fun. So much spookiness! Especially the shrieking tunnel and the creepy pubs. Amazing how much there is to do in Whitby! – Francesca

Do I have access to the guide for life? What if you update it?
Yes! This is a digital product, so once you’ve downloaded it, it’s yours to keep forever.

I’ll also send out free updates if anything minor changes – like attraction closures or seasonal events. I plan to check and refresh the guide every 6–12 months to keep it accurate.

If I ever add entire new sections (like a future guide to Whitby Goth Weekend 👀), you’ll get first access to those at a special discounted price.

Have you really visited and experienced everything in this guide?
I’ve visited every single location in this guide except The Dracula Experience (it was closed during my visits!) and a few of the bonus day trip spots. But everything included is thoroughly researched – I would never recommend a place I wouldn’t visit myself.

In fact, it was my own solo trip to Whitby that inspired this guide. I came back with so many eerie stories, photos, and ideas that a single blog post couldn’t contain them all. This guide is how I’ve bottled up that experience so you can plan your own spooky adventure, too.

Why buy when I can find all this information online for free?
You absolutely can find some of this information online – but it takes hours of digging through scattered blogs, half-updated travel sites, and surface-level ghost lists.

This guide pulls together everything you actually need to plan a memorable,
spooky trip to Whitby – haunted hotspots, folklore, quirky shops, themed experiences, and eerie day trips – all in one place.

It’s not just a list- it’s a carefully curated experience, backed by firsthand visits and storytelling from someone who lives and breathes dark tourism.

Plus, you’ll get instant access, a clickable map, and insider tips you won’t find on big travel sites.

Finally, supporting a small creator like me not only means the world – it also helps me keep creating even more spooky content and haunted travel guides for you in the future 🖤
